David Wolfersberger
ATA Distinguished
Topical Philatelist 2022 |
Congratulations are in order to our very own David Wolfersberger who has been named the American Topical Association’s (ATA) Distinguished Topical Philatelist for 2022! David, a life-long collector, has worked diligently over the years helping to promote the hobby. He instrumented the restart of the Wine on Stamps Study Unit in 2006, and more recently helped establish the Gastronomy on Stamps Study Unit in 2017. For cartophilatelists, it was David who helped the late Dr. Alf Jordan lead the restart of the CartoPhilatelic Society (CPS) in 2003. Since then, David has carried out a number of invaluable roles within the Society, helping to guide and reinvigorate the group. David has continued to maintain the research cornerstone of our Society, the Maps on Stamps Checklist, containing information on over 41,000+ map related topicals. David is presently the Editor of the Society’s award-winning journal, The New CartoPhilatelist and the Society vice-president. “The CPS would not be in the position we are today if it were not for David and his support of our Society,” said Mark Honig, CPS President. “From all the members, we thank you for your dedication to the CPS and congratulate you on this outstanding recognition as the ATA Distinguished Topical Philatelist for 2022!
Maps on Stamps (MoS) Checklist Editor David Wolfersberger has just announced that Revision 10.2 of the MoS Checklist is now complete and ready for distribution. This comprehensive update includes 764 additions, plus numerous corrections and clarifications, bringing the total number of entries in the checklist to over 41,300. In this revision a new feature has been added, called the “combined sheet.” This will enable simplified search of all records, instead of needing to search each worksheet individually. Please see the main Checklist page for more details and update information.

| CPS Resource Centre – Oct. 2021 |
The CartoPhilatelic Society Resource Centre (RC) is now open. The RC is a new members only password protected service from the CartoPhilatelic Society.
This new website site has redesigned the access to the Society’s Journal Archives. The main feature of the RC is the ever-growing list of indispensable reference citations – submitted by you, our members – to aid in cartophilatelic research. An expanded list of internet links as well as a section for RC Projects is being planned.
Member Lloyd Field has volunteered to be the Resource Curator and will be your point of contact when you submit new reference citations, links, and content to the RC.
The RC site can be accessed using the CPS Resource Centre link under the “Resources” menu option. Once you access the RC site you can bookmark for easy access. Access credentials for the RC can be found on the last page of the October issue of TNCP No. 75 and is a service for current members of the CartoPhilatelic Society. If you have any questions, please use the contact form.
